To us here at Magazine Cafe, metal is just like normal music but better in pretty much every way. Metal, whatever the flavour, is all about the extreme, about being louder, faster, more menacing, and more hardcore than everybody else. Metal Hammer epitomises everything there is to love about the metal music scene, being packed full of hard drinking, fast living metal gods. There is such a diversity in metal now that pretty much anyone can find something they will appreciate, though perhaps not the cardigan-ed hipsters who are afraid of music with a bit of punch, a bit of bite. Mind you, metal has had a bit of an odd history. Some of the earliest metal bands – casting our minds back we can’t help but pick out Ozzy Osbourne – seem frankly very tame by comparison to the modern day extremes that exist. Though they seem to be lesser in sound, let us not forget that it is they who started the ball rolling, that without them modern metal wouldn’t be anything like it is today. What is frankly embarrassing, however, is the brief period in the eighties when Glam metal ruled. I mean, seriously, what were they thinking Big platform shoes, shiny outfits and terrible, terrible music. Sorry KISS, but you were never as good as you thought you were.

- Annual subscription for International magazine will commence in 2-3 weeks usually if the current issue is available.
- Domestic US magazine subscription will begin in 4-6 weeks usually or based on the publishers mailing run.
- For Outside USA subscription delivery orders, we use Standard air mail post which takes upto 18 business days to be delivered.
